Box Office War On December 4th: Can Bobby Simha & Atharvaa Defeat Sivakarthikeyan?

December is likely to have interesting releases in Kollywood and the first weekend of the month will witness the release of 4 flicks including Sivakarthikeyan's Rajini Murugan, Bobby Simha's Urumeen and Atharvaa's Eetti.

Though the fourth film, Vellaiya Irukiravan Poi Solla Maatan, does not have a lot of buzz surrounding it, its makers will be relying on its quirky title to pull in audiences in the opening weekend.

Among the other three films, Rajini Murugan is expected to have a huge opening as the movie is making its way into theatres after facing many hurdles, which subsequently might work in favour of the movie, as it did for Simbu's Vaalu.

Also, Rajini Murugan has the hit trio (director Ponram, Sivakarthikeyan and Soori) ofVaruthapadatha Valibar Sangam intact, raising the expectation meter of the film.

Eetti, starring Atharvaa and Sri Divya in the lead roles, had faced a similar fate as that of Rajini Murugan. But the film will finally hit the big screen, come December 4th.

And Urumeen will have the real life couple - Bobby Simha and Reshmi Menon playing the lead roles. The movie is directed by debutant Sakthivel Perumalsamy and will have Kalaiyarasan of Madras fame playing the main antagonist.

Though good word of mouth will ultimately decide the winner among these 4 flicks,Rajini Murugan is expected to enjoy a better weekend opening.

LEAKED: A Song Video From Rajinikanth's Kabali

According to the latest buzz, a song video from superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film Kabali  has been leaked online by some miscreants. The unfortunate act, might well be the handiwork of an insider, it is said.

The video, which is the footage of a song shot in Malaysia, is about 2 minutes in length. After it was vigorously circulated in WhatsApp, actor Kalaiyarasan had taken to his social media page, requesting fans not to share the video.

"Guys pls do not share Kabali song..Pls understand and cooperate..Support us..We r trying our best to stop but 😞@beemji #SUPERSTAR #kabali.", he had written, according to a report.

Shockingly, it is also said that a prominent TV channel aired the leaked video as soon as it was made public, unofficially.

Inji Iduppazhagi Vs Uppu Karuvaadu: Weekend Box Office Predictions!

Two prominent Tamil films made their way into theatres yesterday (Nov 27th). WhileInji Iduppazhagi  had an impressive star cast, including the likes of Arya, Anushka and Prakash Raj, Uppu Karuvaadu was awaited by many movie buffs as the film had a certain Radha Mohan against the director's name.

Uppu Karuvaadu Plot:

The story of Uppu Karuvaadu is nothing new to Tamil cinema. A director like Radha Mohan handling such a hoary script comes across as a surprise.

Karunakaran is an aspiring director and is desperate to find himself a bankroller who can fund his film. With the help of Mayilswamy, he manages to find a producer, played by MS Bhaskar.

Though he agrees to finance his project, he lays in front of them a condition. His daughter, played by Nandita Swetha is a wannabe actress, who knows nothing about acting.

Karunakaran is put in a spot of bother as the producer decides to launch his daughter into the film industry through Karunakaran's movie. What follows is an attempt to turn Nandita into an actress by Karunakaran and his team.

Performances:

Stand out performances comes from Karunakaran and MS Bhaskar, for they have done complete justice to their respective characters.

Nandita Swetha too comes up with a believable performance, but in parts. She might often make you feel that she could've done a bit more in order to provide that complete performance. Other supporting actors have done their part neatly.

Technicalities:

The only lifesaver in the entire technical department are the movie's dialogues. Dialogues have worked like a charm throughout, making Uppu Karuvaadu bearable.

While the cinematography looks very much amateurish, background score too fails to elevate some of the slow paced scenes this movie has to offer.

With an ordinary storyline, Uppu Karuvaadu cries for an engaging screenplay, but unfortunately that's not what you experience in this flick. Screenplay, both in the first as well as second half, is just too slow for one's liking. Comedy has worked in parts, largely because of the dialogues.

Overall View:

Though it is apparent that Radha Mohan wanted to deliver a clean comedy entertainer through Uppu Karuvaadu, his selection of script and the way this film is treated comes across as a baffler.

Rajinimurugan Releasing On Dec 4th

Rajini Murugan (aka) Rajinimurugan is a romantic comedy film directed by Ponram, who made his debut with Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. The film has Sivakarthikeyan, Keerthi Suresh in the lead roles, while Soori, Samuthirakani and Rajkiran play supporting roles. The film produced by Thirrupathi Brothers will feature music by D. Imman and cinematography by Balasubramaniem.

In August 2013, director Ponram's next project was announced, which was said to star Sivakarthikeyan and be produced by Lingusamy. D. Imman was selected to compose the film's music and Balasubramaniem was handed the cinematography. Sivakarthikeyan was reported to play a real-estate broker in the film.

The soundtrack was composed by D. Imman, which is the third time he has contributed to the score for a film starring Sivakarthikeyan after Manam Kothi Paravai and Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam. Sivakarthikeyan has sung a song in this film too. The audio was launched on 16 June 2015. The lyrics were written by Yugabharathi.

Inji Iduppazhagi (U): Book Your Tickets Right Away!

Inji Iduppazhagi plot:

The film is basically about a fat girl, who puts her parents in distress as they often fail to find her a suitable bridegroom. Obviously, the problem here is her overweight.

Inji Iduppazhagi also showcases the day-to-day life issues faced by an obese girl and that's about it. The film then narrates the efforts taken by her to lose weight, and that comes with a social message.

Performances:

As expected, Anushka is the scene stealer in this flick. The entire movie revolves around her and the Baahubali  actress has done complete justice to her role. Her performance is one of the major highlights of this movie.

Other notable performances comes from Prakash Raj, who plays a gym owner, and Urvashi (Anushka's mother). Urvashi has yet again flaunted her talent quite convincingly.

As this movie is all about Anushka, Arya gets little opportunity to display his acting prowess. Having said that, he has done his job neatly.

Technicalities:

Though the first half is enjoyable to an extent, the latter half gets way too draggy for one's liking. With stretched climax and a couple of unnecessary songs, Inji Iduppazhagi  does test your patience at times. Not to mention few comedy sequences that fail to evoke laughter.

Nirav Shah's cinematography is top notch and deserves a mention. MM Keeravani's background score elevates certain ordinary scenes and is an added advantage.

What does not work out in Inji Iduppazhagi  is its writing, for a wafer thin storyline is stretched beyond its limit, making the film look boring at times.

Also, for a 'bilingual' the lip sync is horribly out of order as one can easily make out that the film, at large, has been shot in Telugu.

Overall View:

Yes, the film has its issues, especially in the technical department, but Inji Iduppazhagi  can be considered saved by Anushka's terrific performance and a relevant social message.

This might sound a touch absurd, but a report has it that Priyamani walks home with 70-75 Lakhs for each and every movie she signs. This has placed her in the ninth position.

Manjima Mohan, after starring in a string of Malayalam movies, will make her Tamil debut through Gautham Menon's Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada which hasSimbu in the lead.

In her latest interview to Times of India, Manjima has revealed a lot about the upcoming flick and her experience, working in Kollywood for the first time.

Talking about her on-screen pair, the child artist turned actress has praised Simbu's acting prowess but has divulged his waggish side.

By saying that it is hard to work with an actor like Simbu, she raised many eyebrows alright, but the 22-year-old was only referring to the Vaalu actor's antics on the sets of Achcham Enbadhu Madamaiyada.

As it turns out, Manjima's hard time with Simbu has to do with the latter's transformation while getting into his character after having made Manjima laugh, during a shot that requires seriousness.

The actress has said that she had to face embarrassment a couple of times as she would gain everyone's attention while laughing for Simbu's jokes, even as he would look prepared for his shot.

'Theri' In Trouble: Film-maker Cries Foul Play, Says Register Book Was Manipulated

The first look posters of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's upcoming film, Theri, were released yesterday (25th November) and within minutes the word 'Theri' was trending in almost all social media networks.

The film's official title was celebrated by fans all over Tamil Nadu and even many celebrities had expressed their liking towards the quirky title.

However, not everyone are happy with the title of Vijay's 59th movie. A film-maker named Sathish Kumar has come forward to convey his disappointment with the team of Theri.

According to him, he had registered the title in question, three months ago. He has also claimed that he zeroed in on the title, after putting in a lot of thought.

What more, he has accused the team of Theri, of foul play. Alleging that the makers of Theri  manipulated the register book in order to make it look like they had registered the title first, Sathish has claimed that the register book is "under their control".

He has also said that he will not take the matter to court and that he himself would've granted the permission for them to use the title, had they asked him beforehand.

It is to be noted that Theri  is funded by Kalaipuli S Thanu, a notable personality in Tamil film industry.

'Kaththi' Actor Roped In For 'Vijay 60'!

Recently it was announced that director Bharathan, who helmed IlayathalapathyVijay's Azhagiya Tamil Magan, will direct the star actor's upcoming film, which is being referred as Vijay 60.

Now, the latest news pertaining to the project is that comedian Satish, who had showcased his talent in Kaththi, will once again join hands with Vijay.

Satish wrote on his official Twitter page, "After #Kaththi again got an opportunity to work wit @actorvijay Sir..Very Happy to be a part of #Vijay60 #Thankstoilayathalapathy".

It is also speculated that the team of Vijay 60 is in talks with Kajal Aggarwal and if everything goes according to their plans, the Jilla actress might be brought on board as well.

As of now, a part of the technical crew of Vijay 60 has been confirmed. While Santhosh Narayanan is expected to bring out some scintillating music, editor Praveen KL will hold the magical scissors to make the film that much more racier.

Rajinikanth Apologizes To Fans, Says 'Kabali' Is Born & Brought Up In Malaysia!

Speaking to Malaysian fans and media before his departure from the country, superstar Rajinikanth apologized to those, with whom he couldn't pose for photographs. This statement has come after the Enthiran man obliged most of his fans for thousands of selfies.

A heartfelt ''sorry'' from the most popular South Indian film star, only intensified the love Malaysian people have for him even as they were left in a state of embarrassment.

The actor went on to say that Malaysia has grown immensely over the years, accentuating its beauty. "I did not expect Malaysia to be this beautiful. I last visited this country in 1978 for the shooting of my movie Priya", said he.

The much awaited title and official first look poster of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie, directed by Atlee, has been released and is already going viral in almost all social networking sites. The film has been titled as Theri, which comes across as a huge surprise.

Though Vijay's hairstyle looks pretty much similar to what he had sported in Puli, he has a fully-grown moustache in the first look poster of Theri, which goes perfectly well with his shades and outfit. Not to mention the gun in his left hand, indicating the cop connection.

Interestingly, the second poster displays Vijay in triple roles. And this time around it showcases the Kaththi  star in different hairstyles as well.

One among the three characters portrayed by Vijay sports a beard and looks nerdy enough to be presumed as an ex-IIT student in the film.

Going by the second poster, it also looks like Vijay is all set to play a negative character in the movie. Overall, the second poster of Theri  looks more intriguing than its counterpart.
