Thala Ajith's Vedalam has become one of the fastest Tamil movies to join the 100 Crore club as the film has minted over 100 Crore rupees at the worldwide box office in just 8 days from the day of its release.
Vedalam (U): Book Your Tickets Right Away!
Confirming the news, actor RahulDev wrote on his official Twitter page, "It's official! #Vedalam joins the 100cr group!Happy to be part of the team .Thank you @directorsiva #ThalaAjith @vetrivisuals #AMRatnam."
Vedalam now stands next only to superstar Rajinikath's Enthiran, Lingaa and 'Chiyaan' Vikram's I in terms of reaching the 100 Crore club at the earliest. WhileEnthiran, Lingaa and I were single releases, Vedalam was a non-solo release.
By collecting close to 60 Crores from Tamil Nadu alone, Vedalam has broken many box office records in the state. It is to be noted that the film was released only in Tamil, alongside 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan's Thoongaavanam.
Interestingly, Karnataka has contributed heavily towards the film's success at the box office. Standing next only to Tamil Nadu in terms of collections in India, the neighbouring state's contribution stands at an impressive 7 Crore rupees.
Is Karnataka fast turning into yet another Thala Ajith fort? As far as Vedalam is concerned, it sure has turned into one. Moving on, the movie has amassed 5.2 Crores from Kerala, in spite of suffering poor reviews from some of the well-known critics there.
From other parts of India, the film has so far managed to gather 1.9 Crore rupees. It is worth mentioning that the Ajith starrer was not released in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
From the overseas centres, Vedalam has grossed a whopping 26.52 Crores with Malaysia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) contributing handsomely.
