Chandi Veeran Plot:
Two villages are situated next to each other. While one has enough water even for recreational purposes, its neighbouring village survives on contaminated water which often leads to death and adversity.
Chandi Veeran talks about the basic struggle for clean water and the film's protagonist, Atharvaa fights on behalf of his water deprived village.
Performances:
This film's main attraction is its lead pair Atharvaa and Anandhi of Kayal fame.Chandi Veeran largely thrives on its romantic sequences and hence most of the credits must go to the lead pair.
Lal and Ashvin Raja are convincing enough in their respective roles while other supporting actors have delivered realistic performances, which you expect in a Sarkunam film.
Technicalities:
Though the movie takes a few minutes to settle down, it gets interesting as it approaches the interval block and manages to keep you hooked throughout the first half.
Screenplay in the second half lacks the punch it had in the beginning and hence gives us an impression that the film could've easily been lot more engrossing.
PG Muthiah's cinematography deserves a special mention. While it is easy to display mundane pictures for a film like Chandi Veeran, he has managed to dish out sharp images which acts as a pleasant surprise.
Background score by the Sabesh-Murali duo adds value to the film by elevating the tension wherever required. They have also managed to keep it subtle in the melodramatic portions which has worked out well.
Overall View:
With a good plot, Sarkunam could've made Chandi Veeran a must watch but fails to do so. The end product however, is a decent entertainer with an appropriate social message.
