Idhu Enna Maayam Plot:

Vikram Prabhu (Arun) and Keerthi Suresh (Priya) are two young lovers who call it quits and break their relationship up for their own good.
After a few years, Arun becomes a local favourite of all college goers and youngsters as he helps them to sweep their respective lovers off their feet, a character which reminds you of Ilayathalapathy Vijay's in Shahjahan.
Fate makes sure that both Arun and Priya meet each other after a few years. Whether or not they resuscitate their lost love, which according to them is magic, forms the remaining story.

Performances:

Performances of veteran actors like Nassar and Ambika adds strength to the movie. Vikram Prabhu looks just too old for the role of a college student and his performance is clichéd and reminds you of his previous movies.
Keerthi Suresh has got what it takes to become a successful actress in Kollywood. The girl is way better when it comes to her lip-sync, if compared with some of the established actresses Tamil cinema currently has.

Technicalities:

The film has some promising technicians like, Nirav Shah handling its cinematography, Anthony at the editing table and GV Prakash taking care of the musical score. In fact, all of them have delivered the goods barring a couple of songs.
But the real and surprising problem lies with the film's writing and narration by its director AL Vijay. It can be safely said that Idhu Enna Maayam is AL Vijay's weakest work so far in his career.
Both first and second halves houses many clichéd moments which tests your patience to the core. To make things worse, the screenplay gets ridiculously predictable toward the end which finishes with an inappropriate climax.

Overall View:

As mentioned earlier, AL Vijay's choice of taking up a romcom has backfired terribly, for the movie is barren.
