Roy Movie Review: Arjun Rampal's Life Depends On Ranbir's Story

The much awaited Bollywood movie Roy starring Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor andJacqueline Fernandez finally hits the theatres and here we offer you a first-hand review of the movie Roy.
Directed by debutant director Vikramjit Singh, Roy happens to be a romantic thriller with a mix of action, suspense and romance which certainly is a rare thing in Bollywood.
PLOT:
To talk about the plot of the movie Roy, Arjun Rampal (Kabir Grewal) plays the role of a successful film-maker while, Ranbir Kapoor (Roy) is seen as a smart mysterious thief and gorgeous Jacqueline Fernandez (Ayesha) interestingly has double roles in the film, the other role being of an actress named Tia.
While, Ranbir Kapoor earns money by robbery and he remains untraceable by the police, Arjun Rampal makes a lot of money by making films on the life of Roy, all of which become super-hits at the Box Office. Jacqueline Fernandez also appears as a film-maker and gets mingled with Arjun Rampal who carries an image of a play-boy.
Interestingly, Arjun Rampal's story apparently proceeds with Ranbir Kapoor or, so to say, Roy's story as Jacqueline Fernandez says, "A person can be known by the story he creates and words can lie but not stories." Sounds Complicated? Well, to understand this complication you have to watch the movie.
Performance:
Director Vikramjit Singh attempted to create something unorthodox with the movieRoy with a superb star-cast, of course. Talking about the performance, Arjun Rampal dons the role of a proud, arrogant and successful film-maker pretty well with an attitude. Ranbir Kapoor as a charming and smart thief keeps the mystery in his character intact all through the film, though his presence in the film is comparatively short. Jacqueline Fernandez, apart from adding glamour quotient to the film Roy, also has enough scope to prove her prowess as an actress and the diva does considerable justice to her role. Other than Arjun, Ranbir and Jacqueline, Anupam Kher (as Kabir's father) and Shibani Dandekar (Zoya) also justified their roles.
As a director, Vikramjit Singh tried to add all the necessary ingredients in the movieRoy that are required to have an entertaining Bollywood film but the film's slow pace might waste his effort. Apart from the strong star-cast, Roy offers you with some eye-catching locations and soothing music.
Loopholes:
However, the movie Roy is not devoid of some loopholes. Some of the transitions are little too confusing while, certain scenes appear to be unnecessarily forced which makes the 147 minutes long movie somewhat dragged and slow.
Verdict:
In a nut shell, Vikramjit Singh's Roy starring Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez can be a decent watch, for the love quotient and for those who like an interesting script but don't expect much thrill.
