Based on a real life incident, the action entertainer features the Aambala actor as an undercover cop and is set against the backdrop of Madurai.
This is the third time Vishal is playing the role of a police officer in his career after the 2008 film Sathyam and Vedi that was released in 2011. It was also reported that the actor lost 10 kilos in order to look younger and leaner for this particular character.
All the songs have been penned by veteran lyricist Vairamuthu and the film will feature 5 songs. Paayum Puli will also be released in Telugu (dubbed version) asJayasurya.
